Elder Scott Weber's mission to Madagascar. Check back for weekly emails and pictures of Madagascar!

Alma 26:12 - Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

Another week not much news

This week flew by and I don't really know what to share.
My companion was sick this week so we took two days off and got a lot of studying done. The work keeps going teaching lessons and helping people progress. Our all-star family mostly attended church this week which was awesome!! We also had a lot of other great lessons this week when we were working. On Saturday I went on a split with Elder Rassmussen who is one of the APs for the mission. The reason why is that my companion is their district leader and so needs to split with them sometimes. So I got to split and it was a lot of fun to work in their area and get the experience of seeing how other people teach, especially someone that has been here a long time and teaches really well.
This keyboard today is so annoying, like most of the ones here in country. The keys are sticky and you have to pound them to get them to type, and sometimes today I type too fast for the keyboard and it is not happy with me.
I really dont know what else to write today. I just past my first month is country!!!
All is going well. Today for p-day we are not going to the lemur park, we are just going to do some errands at the office and then go home and enjoy a nice relaxing day playing Monopoly. I love you and look forward to each pday and getting to write.

I lost power this morning and was not able to send it, but I have returned and am sending it now.

Loves,
Elder Weber
Mom Note: APs are the assistants to the mission president. Each mission in the church has a mission president. He serves for 3 years with his wife. There is an office staff and also two Elders that are called as Assistants to the President.  The mission is then broken into Zones and the zones have zone leaders. The zones are broken down into districts with a district leader for each.  All of these leadership positions are held my the young missionaries like Scott, but usually after they have been in the country a while.
Mom Note 2: Scott is looking for LDS music. He can listen to music on a USB thumb drive, SD card, or CDs.  I am going to send his birthday package around the middle of August.  If you would like to add music to the gift, but don't want the expense of shipping it, please get it to me and I will include it in his package.  The smaller and lighter the better.  You can even email me legally licensed mp3 files and I will include them on my SD that I am making.

Guess the food item and price

Descriptions and Prices Follow the Pictures

Picture 1 - These are called Bolos. They are way good and come in vanilla, choco, and fraise. Way good, but I bought these bulk. 20 packages of two each. okay guess the price. You can normally buy a package on the street for 200 ariary or 10 cents. But in bulk (how the epecierces buy them) it is 3600 for the 20. So for every 20 the epeceries sell they only make 400 ariary, or 20 cents profit. The epeceries make almost no money.
Mom note: Fraise is strawberry in French, épicerie is a small grocery store, ariary is the money in Madagascar.

Picture 2 - This big box of Apollo is the kinda equivqlent to Ramen, the 60 packages is 36000 or 600 a piece. But now we have a ton in the apartment.

Picture 3 - Mofo Kely, which means small bread. Mofo is bread, kely is small. This bread is really good. Now think of the price in dollars. Don't read the answer until you guess. This bread costs 300 ariary a loaf, which is 15 cents. Our allotment is 15000 a day, so that is 50 loafs a day!!!

The other money fact, people don't understand a deal. We were at this restaurant and they have the meal deal, which is more expensive then buying each part separately. And this happens everywhere, or if you are to buy in bulk, they frequently just multiply the price of one. You have to watch or it can bite you in the butt.

Have fun!!
Mom Note: One more picture with a price - but not food.  To help them last longer, Scott had his scriptures bound in leather for about $15.  They were also engraved for that price.
